Juma mubarak (juma mubarak) – this phrase is a congratulation of Muslims with each other, translated from Arabic “blessed Friday”. The word “mubarak” means in translation from the Arabic language “happy” or “prosperous”, but in this greeting it is translated as “blessed”. The word mubarak is often used in Islamic greetings in this sense. The name “juma” is of Arabic origin, based on the concept of “collect”. As Imam al-Nawawi said, Friday was called the word “juma”, because this word in Arabic refers to a gathering of people. During the time of pre-Islamic ignorance or “jahiliyah”, the Arabs called Friday “Aruba”.

There are several versions regarding the reason why Friday was named that way. According to one of the versions, Adam was created by Allah on Friday. The term “juma” in Arabic means the process of completing something, like the moment when the Almighty collected something, that is, completed creation. The question of why Friday received the name “Juma” was asked to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, he replied that this name was given because on this day Allah completed the creation of Adam, the forefather of all mankind (hadith from Imam Ahmad, transmitted from Abu Hureyrah).

According to Sheikh Al-Arnaut, there is a weak link in the chain of transmitters or insad of this hadith, but not only this hadith, but many others indicate that it was on Friday that Allah completed the creation of his creation Adam. Respected writings such as Fatah al-Bari and Neil al-Autar also acknowledge the validity of this opinion. Another version of this name is that it is on Friday that Muslims gather in the cathedral mosque to perform collective prayer. This opinion is shared by Ibn Hazm in his work “al-Muhalla”.

There is also a point of view that on this day Hawa (Eve) and Adam were gathered by the Almighty together. Besides all these explanations, Friday has many benefits and merits. And the fact that the name of this day in translation from Arabic means “to collect” just also confirms this.

Many hadiths raise the question of what are the virtues of Friday. on Friday that Adam was created, he was settled in Paradise and expelled from Paradise, the Day of Judgment is also set for Juma. Prophet Muhammad ﷺ spent Friday, paying special attention to it: he performed a complete ablution, put on his best clothes, smeared his hair with incense. The words of the Prophet Muhammad are cited that Muslims who do this and then go to the mosque for Juma Namaz pray to Allah, and then listen to the Imam and keep silence, such people will be forgiven all their sins between this Friday and the previous one. wakes up on the day of Juma in health and can fully experience the value and grace of this day. Some days or months were chosen by Allah Most High and exalted above the rest. With His Wisdom, Allah made them festive, and his decision is a favor to the Muslim believers.

Juma is a day full of merit for Muslims. It is no coincidence that he was singled out among the rest by the Almighty, who made him special for the Ummah, the Muslim community, mubarak. As stated in a hadith transmitted from Khuzeif ibn al-Yaman, which is recognized as reliable, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ once said that “juma” was not given by Allah to those people who “were before us”, since Saturday was a special day for the Jews, and for Christians, that day was Sunday. Paying attention to the fact that these days follow one after another, and this sequence was sent down by the Almighty, he added: “ And in the same way, We are the last community in this world, and the first on the Day of Judgment, over which the judgment will be performed first, before the rest of the creatures . “

For the Muslim believers, Allah Almighty has determined two Mubarak holidays per year: Eid al-Fitr or Eid al-Adha, or Eid al-Adha. One more mubarak holiday was defined by Allah – Juma. The hadiths quote the words of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ (hadith from Imam Ahmad and al-Hakim), when he said that Friday is a holiday, therefore Muslims cannot fast on Friday, except for those who have fasted the day before or are going to fast the next day after Friday.

Among the Muslim believers, the question often arises, is such a tradition of congratulating on Friday an innovation (bidah)? This question is answered by representatives of the Muslim Ummah, citing evidence for their answer from the hadiths. Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and his companions did not congratulate each other with the words “juma mubarak” , since there is no mention of this congratulation in hadiths.

However, it is not forbidden to congratulate each other with the words “juma mubarak”, there is nothing forbidden in this, but only if the person who does this does not accept this congratulation as an obligatory action or sunnah. From all that is given in the hadith about Juma, we can conclude that there is no obligation for Muslims to congratulate each other on Friday, but such a wish does not contradict Islam.

The duty of a Muslim is to give good to others, glorifying the wisdom and mercy of Allah, and it is better to fill the juma itself with good deeds, distribute sadaqa, please his parents, help people, invite relatives, neighbors, friends and acquaintances to visit, to strengthen kinship, brotherly and friendly ties .
